A deal to end the ongoing conflict with Iran is now close to finalization, according to U.S. President Donald Trump, who said an official announcement could come very soon.

A preliminary Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran is reportedly in its final stage. The proposed agreement includes a ceasefire, suspension of regional hostilities, and the full reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz for commercial activities.

Speaking on Saturday (May 24), Trump also claimed that the Strait of Hormuz would soon be reopened. He said his phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went very well and could lead to positive outcomes regarding the deal.

However, Israeli sources say the possible agreement has become a major concern for Israel.

According to Tehran, the deal does not include any final decision on Iran’s nuclear program. Iranian officials said the issue has been left for discussion in the next phase of negotiations.

Trump is also reportedly seeking an end to Iran’s support for various proxy groups operating across the Middle East. At the same time, demands have reportedly been raised for those proxy groups to surrender and hand over their weapons.

Iranian state media, however, stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain under Iran’s control and described Trump’s remarks as incomplete and inconsistent.

Meanwhile, several senior Iranian officials said progress has been made on a preliminary framework aimed at reducing regional tensions and implementing a ceasefire, although disagreements still remain on several key issues.

In this situation, Tehran claims that U.S. President Donald Trump has no alternative but to accept Iran’s demands.
