The freedom fighter recognition of more than four hundred politicians (MNAs and MPAs) who won the 1970 elections, including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, M Mansur Ali, AHM Kamaruzzaman, who led the Liberation War, has been revoked.
Adviser on the Liberation War, Faruk-e-Azam, said that such information is not correct.

He said at the Secretariat on Wednesday (June 4) that the recognition of leaders including Bangabandhu as freedom fighters has been revoked, and that it is not correct to identify these leaders as 'collaborators of the liberation war'.The 'National Freedom Fighters Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025' was issued on Tuesday night, changing the definition of heroic freedom fighters. The ordinance does not address the issue of canceling the recognition of freedom fighters including Bangabandhu, Tajuddin, and others as published in various media outlets.
