Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has accused Washington of trying to blame Iran for the global disorder and crisis caused by the war started by the United States and Israel.
In a post on social media platform X on Sunday (September 6), Baghaei said the Strait of Hormuz had remained fully open to commercial shipping until the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.
He alleged that Washington’s “illegal and brutal war” had disrupted commercial shipping, halted the movement of oil tankers and driven up energy prices in global markets.
Baghaei said the United States had created the conflict and was now seeking to shift responsibility for the resulting global crisis onto Iran, forcing the rest of the world to pay the price.
