The July 2025 floods in Texas have taken a devastating toll. At least 82 people, including 28 children, have died in flash floods in various areas, including Camp Mystic, a girls' summer camp in central Texas. In addition, 41 people are still missing.
About 850 people have been rescued. The Coast Guard, helicopters, drones and rescue teams are continuing to search the flooded area. Coast Guard member Scott Ruskan rescued 165 people from Camp Mystic. President Donald Trump has declared Kerr County a major disaster area and sent federal aid. However, the National Weather Service has been criticized for staffing shortages and forecast deficiencies.
The flooding has caused widespread damage in Kerr County, Hunt, Comfort, Georgetown and League City, among other areas. There are fears that more damage could occur due to the lack of weather forecasting. Source: Al Jazeera.
