Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to address the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 24. He will travel to New York on Monday (September 21) to attend the high-level session.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister’s US visit has been shortened. He is expected to leave New York for Dhaka on the night of September 25, a day after delivering his UNGA speech.
During the visit, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to attend several high-level UN meetings and hold bilateral talks with leaders of different countries. He is also expected to join Bangladesh-hosted discussions on issues including the Rohingya crisis.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, World Bank President Ajay Banga and other senior officials of international organizations.
He will also attend a dinner hosted by US President Donald Trump.
