Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived in New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). His flight landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport at 6:20pm New York time on Monday (September 21).
The prime minister travelled on a Turkish Airlines flight with his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, along with around 35 members of his delegation, including ministers, advisers and special assistants. Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Irene Zubaida Khan, and Bangladesh’s ambassador to the United States, Tariq Md Ariful Islam, welcomed him at the airport.
Supporters of the BNP gathered at Terminal 8 of JFK from different US states to welcome Tarique Rahman, who is visiting the United States after more than 20 years.
During his four-day visit, the prime minister is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders and attend various UN events. He is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on September 24.
Tarique Rahman is expected to leave New York for Dhaka on September 25 and arrive in Bangladesh on September 27.
