Lionel Messi will wear a special jersey in what is expected to be his final match for Argentina. The Albiceleste will face Benin on October 6 at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, a match widely viewed as Messi’s farewell appearance in the national team shirt.
Messi unveiled the jersey design on social media, writing, “The last match… a jersey for a lifetime.” The jersey features Argentina’s traditional sky-blue color with a white vertical stripe running through the center.
Messi’s name and number 10 will appear in gold on the back, along with Argentina’s national emblem, the “Sun of May.”
Argentina will play Bolivia on September 30 and Burkina Faso on October 3 before facing Benin. Messi will not feature in either of those matches. Members of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning squad have also been invited to the farewell occasion.
