The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of gas used in industrial boilers from Tk 30 to Tk 40 per cubic meter. The agency has also increased the price of captive gas from Tk 31.75 to Tk 42.
In addition to new industries, those industries that are now using gas beyond the permitted load will also have to pay bills at a rate of Tk 40 instead of Tk 30. The new rate will be effective from the current April bill.
BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed officially announced the new rates on Sunday (April 13).
