Chief Adviser congratulated the Bangladeshi negotiation team for successfully finalizing a historic trade agreement with the United States. In a statement on Friday (August 1), he described the diplomatic achievement as a significant victory.
He stated that the new 20 percent tariff is 17 points lower than previously anticipated. The negotiators demonstrated strategic expertise and unwavering commitment to the country’s economic interests.
He noted that the team had been working tirelessly since February and skillfully navigated complex issues related to tariffs, non-tariff measures, and national security.
The agreement has preserved Bangladesh’s comparative advantage, expanded access to the world’s largest consumer market, and safeguarded national interests.
The Chief Adviser further said that this accomplishment highlights Bangladesh’s growing strength on the global stage. It also opens the door to new opportunities, faster economic growth, and sustainable prosperity.
He added that the country’s future is now even brighter. Today’s success is a powerful reflection of Bangladesh’s resilience and its bold vision for a stronger economy.
