Hamas and Israel have agreed to a ceasefire, bringing an end to two years of deadly conflict in Gaza. Following the announcement, Palestinians in Khan Younis and other areas took to the streets in celebration. Songs, dances, and cheers filled the air as people rejoiced over the long-awaited peace. Videos released by Reuters showed crowds playing music on loudspeakers and celebrating the news with joy.

However, local journalists reported that Israeli airstrikes were still ongoing in some parts of Gaza. Resident Mohammad Al-Jaru said he saw fighter jets flying overhead on Wednesday. Still, many Gazans view the ceasefire as a symbol of hope after years of devastation. Local resident Khaled Shaat described it as a “historic moment,” saying the people had waited too long for peace. Meanwhile, Wael Radwan credited U.S. President Donald Trump for helping bring about the deal.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, more than 67,000 people have been killed in the war so far. The United Nations warned that the actual number could be even higher. As the ceasefire takes effect, families in both Gaza and Israel now wait with renewed hope for lasting peace.
