Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the head of Hamas' military wing, along with his wife and daughter, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza, Reuters reported.
Hamas confirmed the killing of its top military leader in a statement on Saturday (May 16).
Hamas said in a statement that Haddad, born in 1970, was a central figure in the organization's military operations. A joint funeral was held for Haddad, his wife and their 19-year-old daughter at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Mosque in central Gaza on Saturday. Palestinian sources confirmed that Israeli forces carried out the attack, targeting a residential apartment building.

Last Friday was the 78th anniversary of the Palestinians' "Nakba Day." This day is observed annually to commemorate the expulsion of about 750,000 Palestinians from their homeland during the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948. This year, on Nakba Day, Israel killed this top Hamas leader and his family.
