Former President Abdul Hamid has left the country. Although he is accused in a murder case, he left the country at 3:05 am last night on a Thai Airways flight as there is no ban on him leaving the country.
According to sources at Shahjalal International Airport, Abdul Hamid left Dhaka for Bangkok on Thai Airways flight TG 340.Sources said that Abdul Hamid went to Shahjalal International Airport around 11 pm last night. After going there, he received the green signal to leave the country after completing the necessary checks at immigration.
The Immigration Department of the Special Branch (SB) of the police said that it is not the case that he cannot be given clearance just because he has a murder case. This will require a court order. There was no court order to arrest him or leave the country.There is information that there is at least one murder case against Abdul Hamid. This case was filed against him at Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station on January 14. The case also names former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul, Obaidul Quader.
