At least nine people have been killed in a series of landslides triggered by continuous heavy rainfall in Cox's Bazar, affecting both the Rohingya refugee camps and the town. Several others were also injured.

According to the Fire Service, three separate landslides struck the Jamtoli, Kutupalong and Balukhali Rohingya camps in Ukhiya early on Monday (July 6). Eight people, including women and children, were killed in the incidents.

Three members of the same family died in the Jamtoli camp, while one child was killed in the Kutupalong camp. In Balukhali camp, four people, including women and children, lost their lives.

In a separate incident, three members of the same family were trapped under debris after a landslide in the Pahartali area of Cox's Bazar town. They were rescued and taken to hospital, where one of them later died.
