4.1 Million Families to Receive Family Cards Within a Year: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced that 4.1 million families across the country will receive Family Cards over the next year.

He made the announcement on Monday (July 13) while addressing a Family Card distribution programme at Batajor in Gournadi.

The Prime Minister said sufficient funds have been allocated for the Family Card programme in the current national budget. He added that all eligible families will be brought under the scheme within the next five years.

According to him, 7,000 families in every upazila will receive Family Cards as part of the initiative. He also called for the cooperation of all citizens to sustain the country's development and progress.

The Prime Minister said the Family Card programme would bring positive social change and reaffirmed the government's commitment to empowering women through education and economic opportunities. He announced that female students will be able to study up to the honours level without tuition fees, while scholarships will be provided to those who achieve outstanding academic results.

He further said the government is committed to ensuring the welfare of all citizens regardless of religion or background, adding that national development will continue through unity, humanity and public support.
