Bangladesh has formally requested the Government of India to extradite former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who was sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal in a case over crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising.
A source at the tribunal confirmed the development on Monday.

According to the source, the request was sent through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A copy of the tribunal's verdict sentencing Kamal to death was also forwarded to the Indian authorities.
Kamal was convicted by the International Crimes Tribunal in connection with crimes against humanity committed during the July-August uprising and was sentenced to death.
