Third Terminal to Open on December 16; Japan–CAAB May Jointly Handle Ground Operations

The third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is set to open on December 16, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).

Speaking at a workshop on civil aviation and air traffic operations on Monday (July 20), CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq said efforts are underway to launch the terminal as scheduled. He also revealed that a deal may be signed to entrust the terminal's ground handling operations to a joint arrangement involving Japan and CAAB.

The CAAB chief further said that an anti-drone system will be procured to strengthen airport security and ensure passenger safety.

He also urged members of the media not to fly drones within the airport area, citing security concerns.
