Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has decided to expel Gazi Nazrul Islam, the Member of Parliament for Satkhira-4, after an internal investigation found allegations of moral misconduct against him to be substantiated.

The decision was made at an emergency meeting of the party’s Central Executive Council held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday (July 22) at the official residence of the Leader of the Opposition on Minto Road in the capital. The meeting was chaired by Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, MP, and attended by members of the Central Executive Council.

According to the party, the investigation was launched following reports published by various media outlets regarding Gazi Nazrul Islam. The inquiry concluded that the allegations of moral misconduct were proven.

Based on the findings, the party decided to expel him from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami under Article 62 of its constitution.

The Central Executive Council also decided to immediately inform the Bangladesh Election Commission of Gazi Nazrul Islam’s expulsion from the party.
