Iran Threatens to Halt Oil Trade in the Gulf Region

Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that if Iran is unable to sell its oil, no other country in the region will be able to do so either. He also cautioned that if Iran's security is not guaranteed, no infrastructure in the region will remain safe.

In a post on X on Wednesday (July 22), Ghalibaf said the current situation has reached a point where it is "either everything or nothing."

He further stated that if security in the Strait of Hormuz is to be ensured, there must be no U.S. military presence there. He also said that the conditions in the Strait of Hormuz that existed before the war would not return, adding that Iran has made this position clear on several occasions.

His remarks came just hours after a new warning from U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump reportedly said that whenever Tehran attacks a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, the United States would respond by striking an Iranian bridge or power plant.
