The BJP-led government has sought one day to make a final decision on demands for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, according to the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which is leading the ongoing protests in India.

The announcement was made on Friday (July 24) by CJP chief spokesperson Sourav Das following a meeting with government representatives.

Speaking to reporters, Das said the party had also demanded compensation for the families who lost their children following the alleged NEET examination paper leak. In addition, the party called on the government not to file any FIRs or legal cases against students and young people who participated in the protests. If any such cases have already been registered, they should be withdrawn, he added.

According to the CJP, the government has responded positively to two of the demands: providing compensation to the affected families and refraining from taking legal action against peaceful protesters.

However, on the issue of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, the government has requested until Saturday afternoon to reach a decision. The CJP warned that if the minister does not step down by then, the protest movement will be intensified on a much larger scale.
