Trump warns China and Russia of "very serious consequences" over arming Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that China or Russia would face very serious consequences if they supply weapons to Iran.

In a social media post on Friday (July 24), Trump said that during a recent meeting in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping assured him that China would not supply or sell any weapons to Iran, either directly or through Chinese companies. Trump added that, considering their relationship, he trusts Xi's assurance and noted that he is also providing significant cooperation to China.

Trump further said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had given a similar assurance despite the ongoing war in Ukraine. According to Trump, Putin understands that the United States does not sell weapons directly to Ukraine but instead sells them to NATO member countries.

Trump expressed confidence that both China and Russia would honor their commitments.
