Tehran, July 25: Iran has claimed that it destroyed 11 U.S. military aircraft and helicopters during a 15-day conflict with the United States, according to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Speaking to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency on Saturday, IRGC spokesperson Brig. Gen. Hossein Mohebbi said the attacks were carried out between July 8 and July 22. He alleged that the strikes targeted U.S. military assets and installations, resulting in the destruction of multiple aircraft and equipment, while leaving more than 100 American troops killed or wounded.
Mohebbi claimed the destroyed assets included 17 surveillance and operational drones, eight of which were newly deployed. He also alleged that the attacks destroyed an F-15 fighter jet inside a fortified hangar, a P-8 maritime patrol aircraft, a C-17 military transport aircraft, and eight aerial refueling aircraft.
The United States had not immediately responded to the claims, and the allegations could not be independently verified at the time of publication.
