U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, saying the country must reach an agreement or surrender completely; otherwise, the U.S. military blockade will remain in place.
In a post on Truth Social on Monday (August 3), Trump said that Iran is publicly and proudly claiming it is not engaged in any negotiations. However, he added, "Whether Iran admits it or not, we are discussing how to resolve a problem that they have spent decades creating."

When announcing that he had suspended plans for a large-scale bombing campaign against Iran, Trump claimed that the decision came at the request of regional powers and Tehran. He also stated that talks between the United States and Iran would take place on Monday.
Iran, however, rejected that claim. On Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that it is currently discussing only a plan with Oman regarding the shared management of the Strait of Hormuz. It stressed that there are no direct negotiations taking place with Washington.
In response, Trump asserted that it was Iran that had requested negotiations but is now resorting to its usual rhetoric over control of the Strait of Hormuz. He further claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is now completely under the control of the U.S. Navy.
