17 Killed in Russian Ballistic Missile and Drone Strikes on Ukraine

At least 17 people were killed and 45 others injured in Russian ballistic missile and drone strikes across Ukraine. The attacks targeted several buildings, a railway station, and warehouses.

The strikes began shortly after midnight on Wednesday (August 5).

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attacks could not be intercepted because of delays in receiving anti-ballistic missile defense systems from partner countries, resulting in casualties and widespread destruction.

Russia's Ministry of Defense said its forces targeted logistics centers in Kyiv and the surrounding region. According to the ministry, the facilities were used for the storage and supply of weapons and military equipment, as well as the production and distribution of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
