Grammy-Winning Singer Olivia Rodrigo Speaks Out Against Trump Again

Grammy-winning singer Olivia Rodrigo has once again voiced her opposition to US President Donald Trump’s policies. The pop star recently protested against the decision to cut government funding for Planned Parenthood, an organisation that provides women’s healthcare services.

Olivia Rodrigo is one of the most influential young artists in the American entertainment industry. She rose to global fame in a short period and has established herself as a major figure in music. She has won several prestigious awards, including three Grammy Awards and seven Billboard Music Awards.

Recently, Olivia appeared in a dance video shared on the Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts of her upcoming women-focused music festival, “Daisy Chain Fields.” The video featured her popular song “My Way” and carried a message criticizing the funding cuts.

At the beginning of the video, a statement appeared saying, “Since President Donald Trump signed the law cutting funding for Planned Parenthood, nearly 30 health centres have closed.”

The video then showed Olivia and other women standing with serious expressions before the mood changed. They began dancing, with a message appearing on screen: “Still, we will continue fighting for the right to sexual and reproductive healthcare.”

Planned Parenthood is a US-based non-profit healthcare organisation that has long provided services related to birth control, pregnancy care, sexually transmitted diseases, abortion and other reproductive health issues. However, the organisation has faced political pressure due to the ongoing debate over abortion rights in the United States.

According to reports, government funding for the organisation was halted after President Trump signed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” in 2025.

Olivia Rodrigo has been a longtime supporter of Planned Parenthood since the beginning of her career. In recognition of her contribution, she received the organisation’s “Catalyst of Change Award” in 2025.

Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, praised Olivia’s latest video and activism. She said Olivia’s involvement in the fight to protect abortion rights has been especially important at a time when access to Planned Parenthood’s healthcare services faces significant challenges.

She added that Olivia is using her platform to raise awareness about reproductive freedom, the importance of Planned Parenthood’s healthcare services, and ways people can support these causes.

Earlier in June, Olivia Rodrigo also criticised the Trump administration during a controversy involving the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
