Messi Arrives in Rosario to Bid Final Farewell to His Father

Argentina football star Lionel Messi has arrived in Rosario to bid a final farewell to his father, Jorge Messi. He reached his hometown at 8:41pm local time on Saturday (August 8), according to Argentine media outlet El Dia.

Jorge Messi died at the age of 68 after suffering from illness for a long time. After receiving news of his father’s death, Messi returned to Argentina from Miami in the United States to be with his family.

After arriving in Rosario, Messi joined his mother Celia Cuccittini, brothers Rodrigo and Matias, sister Maria Sol, and other family members and relatives.

According to the family’s decision, Jorge Messi’s funeral arrangements will be held privately. There will be no public mourning ceremony or large gathering, and details of the funeral are being kept away from the media.

Jorge Messi’s body will be buried at Parque del Solar cemetery in the Villa Gobernador Galvez area of Rosario. However, the exact time of the burial and other funeral arrangements have not been disclosed, El Dia reported.

Messi’s schedule with Inter Miami has also changed following his father’s death. He was expected to play against Mexican club Monterrey in a Leagues Cup match on Saturday, but he was withdrawn from the squad due to the family situation.

Jorge Messi was one of the most important figures in Lionel Messi’s football career. In addition to serving as his son’s long-time agent, he also handled many of his business affairs. He accompanied the teenage Messi when the family moved to Barcelona in 2000.

Messi also remained by his father’s side during his illness. Following his death, the Argentine star has put his football commitments aside to return to Rosario and spend time with his family.
