Australia have announced their playing XI for the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh. Continuing their recent tradition of naming the team a day before the match, the hosts have opted for a full-strength side for the opening Test at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.

The match will begin at 6:30am Bangladesh time on Thursday (August 13). Australia have already confirmed their XI, while Bangladesh are yet to announce theirs. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said Bangladesh will reveal their playing XI at the toss after assessing the fitness of several players.

Australia’s pace attack will feature Mitchell Starc, captain Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. Pace-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green will provide additional support, leaving experienced seamer Scott Boland out of the XI.

Nathan Lyon will lead the spin attack as the only specialist spinner in the team. Travis Head and Beau Webster could also contribute with the ball if required.

Jack Weatherald and Travis Head are set to open the batting, followed by Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith. Alex Carey will take responsibility behind the stumps, with Cameron Green and Beau Webster adding further depth to the batting lineup.

Australia’s XI for the First Test:
Jack Weatherald, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wicketkeeper), Beau Webster, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood.
