Seven people have been killed after toxic gas leaked from a tank at Ferdous Steel Ship Breaking Yard in Sitakunda, Chattogram. Several others were also injured.

The accident occurred early Friday (August 14) while workers were carrying out housekeeping activities aboard a ship at the yard.

Fire Service personnel entered the vessel and initially recovered the bodies of three workers. The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where four more people later died.

The death toll has now risen to seven, and authorities fear it could increase further.
