Stormy Winds Expected in 7 Regions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast gusty or squally winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour across seven regions of the country. Rain or thunderstorms are also likely in these areas.

In a forecast issued for the country’s inland river ports from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (August 15), the weather office warned of the possibility of temporary gusts and squally winds.

According to the forecast, winds from the south or southeast may blow at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour over Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.

Rain or thunderstorms may occur in these regions during the period. Due to the possibility of strong winds and adverse weather, river travel could become risky.

The authorities have therefore asked the inland river ports in these areas to display the No. 1 river warning signal as a precautionary measure.
