UK and China Congratulate Bangladesh’s Newly Elected President Mirza Fakhrul

The United Kingdom and China have congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as Bangladesh’s 23rd president.

Separate congratulatory messages were posted on the verified Facebook pages of the British and Chinese embassies in Bangladesh on Thursday (August 20).

The UK embassy expressed its sincere greetings and said it looks forward to working with the newly elected president and the Bangladesh government to further strengthen the close and longstanding partnership between the two countries.

China, meanwhile, said Beijing attaches great importance to China-Bangladesh relations and is ready to work closely with Bangladesh to build a shared future in the new era.

China also expressed hope that closer cooperation would bring greater benefits to the two countries and their peoples.
