Bangabhaban has been prepared for the swearing-in ceremony of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as the country’s 23rd president. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 7:30pm on Friday (August 21) at the Durbar Hall. Following the president’s oath, newly appointed members of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s cabinet are expected to take their oaths.

According to sources at Bangabhaban and the Cabinet Division, the ceremony will be conducted by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani. The event will begin with the national anthem and recitation from the Holy Quran. Acting Speaker of Parliament Kaiser Kamal will then administer the oath to the newly elected president.

After taking the oath, Mirza Fakhrul will sign the official oath book in accordance with tradition. He will formally assume the responsibilities of president after completing the signing process.

The swearing-in of the new cabinet members will take place after the president’s ceremony. Those expected to join the cabinet include Abdul Moyeen Khan, Andaleeb Rahman Partha, Saching Prue Jerry, Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln and the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir. Aviation and Tourism State Minister Rashiduzzaman Millat is also expected to be promoted to full minister.

Around 1,500 invitations have reportedly been distributed for the president’s swearing-in ceremony, according to Bangabhaban and Cabinet Division sources.
