Six new members have been added to the cabinet of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s government. Four of them have been sworn in as full ministers, while two have taken charge as state ministers.
The new ministers took their oath at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Friday (August 21). Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir administered the oath.
Among the new ministers, BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan has been appointed Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Bangladesh National Party Chairman Barrister Andaleeb Rahman Partha has taken charge as Information Minister.
Saching Prue Jerry, a member of parliament from Bandarban, has been appointed Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs. M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, who previously served as a state minister, has been promoted to full Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir has been appointed State Minister for Foreign Affairs, while Gaibandha-4 MP Mohammad Shamim Kaisar Lincoln has become State Minister for Religious Affairs.
With the addition of the six new members, the cabinet under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expanded further.
