Iran has blacklisted 45 vessels, including Indian and Pakistani ships, for allegedly violating its rules for navigating the Strait of Hormuz. The move was reported by India’s NDTV.

Among the vessels on the list is the India-linked bulk carrier Maha Roos. A Pakistan-flagged crude oil tanker named Mardan is also on the blacklist. Several other vessels have previously transported energy products to India.

Most of the blacklisted vessels are linked to companies based in the United Arab Emirates. Others are associated with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Malta and Singapore.

The Persian Gulf Strait Authority warned that vessels violating Iran’s transit rules could face fines, seizure or confiscation. It also warned that any vessel cooperating with a blacklisted ship could itself be added to the list.

Iranian authorities said vessels seeking removal from the blacklist must submit a formal application explaining the reasons for their request.
