Millions of mourners have gathered in Iran's capital, Tehran, to take part in the funeral procession of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as the country continues its official period of national mourning.
According to Iran's state-run Press TV, vast crowds filled the streets of Tehran for the procession, with Iranian officials describing it as the largest public gathering in the country's modern history.

The procession began at 6:00 a.m. local time on Monday (July 6) from the Grand Mosalla religious complex, where Khamenei's body had been placed for public viewing over the previous two days.

The funeral march is expected to cover nearly 10 kilometers, passing through Damavand Street, Imam Hossein Square, Enqelab Street, Enqelab Square, Azadi Street and Azadi Square before ending near Mehrabad Airport at Shahid Lashgari Highway. Organizers estimate the procession could take between 10 and 12 hours to complete.
