The July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum was officially inaugurated on Wednesday (August 5), with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman unveiling its commemorative plaque at 9:00 am. Former Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, was present at the ceremony.
The museum will remain reserved for special guests and the families of those martyred during the July uprising on its opening day. It will be opened to the general public from Thursday (August 6).
Following the inauguration, the prime minister toured the museum's galleries and viewed its collection of artifacts, photographs, historical documents and commemorative exhibits.
Visitors will be able to purchase entry tickets online. Ticket prices have been set at Tk 50 for adults and Tk 25 for children.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Tuesday (August 4), Cultural Affairs Adviser Nitai Roy Chowdhury announced the inauguration and confirmed that the museum would be opened to the public from Thursday.
He said the museum has been established to preserve the legacy of the July Mass Uprising, present the authentic history of Bangladesh's pro-democracy movement to future generations, and honor the sacrifices of the martyrs and those who fought during the July uprising.
